look what i found!

They really keep you on your toes don't they? One second I'm changing her diaper and turning away to grab the wipes, then the next second my little lady has her fingers all up in her business!

Whoa. Didn't really know that they "found themselves" that young, but hey to each their own I guess. I know it's perfectly natural and you're eventually supposed to teach them the difference between private and public actions, but she's still learning that cows go Moo.

So in the meantime I guess it all yours Miss Murphy!

Oh, since it wasn't quite appropriate to film her new discovery, I have added pics of her finding a much more G rated body part. :)

are you going to have another?

Apparently once your first child has reached the ripe old age of one people begin asking you about the prospects of another; assuming that you are on the path to building the average 2.5 child family.

What people tend to forget is that I was not expecting this one (the love of my life) or the other two that came along with the gig (2 beautiful and outstanding young ladies). So as far as the 2.5 kids thing goes- I am pretty sure that I've already got that covered.

But for humors sake lets go ahead and do the math.

We have Michaela every other weekend. - Approximately 4 days a month and in the summer lets say a total of 40 days more or less. Total: 76 days out of the year.... 76/365 = 21%

Now Alexandria is a whole differing equation. One that I don't think I can even generate.

So between 3 children...I'd say we actually only have 1.5- if you go directly by time spent.
(Which please note that 2 kids barely equal 1/2 of a full time child- how disheartening is this!)

Now in our hearts and all reality we have 3 amazing girls and a full family. So the answer to the question: Are you going to have another? is obviously NO, my plate overfloweth.

miss you...again

Eric coming home was much needed, it had been over 3 months since we'd seen him last. But for some reason his leaving has been extra difficult this round. Maybe its because I know there's a chance we won't see him again for months... Maybe because I've seen Soph grow up so much and I hate for Eric to miss any of it.

All I know is that this past week has been rough. All I really want is for our little family to be together. I love how Sophie Mae remembered her daddy after all that time had passed; it was absolutely beautiful to see the two of them together.

But we're proud of you babe and again...we miss you.

love is: little girls with giant pigtails

I realize now that it took me far too long before I started actually 'doing' Sophie's hair. But it was worth the wait, because her pig tails are the cutest thing I have ever seen! I love them, and actually miss them since we've been venturing on a more mature/toddler type do.

Oh, but they were magical; and the taller the fountain the better. I'd actually wait til her hair was totally dry before we attempted the 3" piggy. It was no easy task making sure they stood straight up or out. It really required the perfect scrunch technique and correct positioning on her noggin.

Oh Soph, those were the good 'ol days.... :)

we're baaaaaaack....

While I have gotten quite lax on blogging daily about my superstar, I will admit that I have kinda missed throwing my thoughts out about momminess and sophiness. I actually quit blogging for a bit because I thought it was hurting Eric's feelings too much to read and see pics of Soph while he has been gone for so long. But in all reality he needs to see his changing baby.

So me and Soph are back to share our cute new pics and stories. Cuz there is nothing I love more than talking about this little lady!

ooh la la

Look who got another mani and pedi!

But more importantly, lets take a second to bask at the magnificence of these legs....
C'mon, it doesn't get much better than this!

ssshhh... don't tell daddy

I've made the mistake of letting Soph use my legs as a step stool onto the coffee table a couple times. I forget that little ones are merely sponges sopping up information; therefore look who loves to dance on the table top (and it's not me!)

She's also figured out that if she throws the pillows on the ground that those work just as well as mommy's legs. So basically I will be duct taping all the pillows permanently to our couches. Should really add a nice touch-o-class to the place. :)

Oh yeah, Eric is going to freak out when he comes home to the Stinka-Mae hoppin' up on the coffee table to play with our cell phones. I am gonna get in trouuuuuubllllleeee......

here for a visit

Hi, my name is Holly. I am staying with Lex and Soph until my mom and dad come back from Disneyworld.

I am a pain in the ass.

I miss my mommy so much that I am crazy all the time. I love to bark love at EVERYTHING. As a pooch it is my duty to sound alert whenever another dog barks (even on tv), when a person walks by the house, if a car drives by, if Katt enters the room, and God forbid if the mail man drives and stops in the culdesac.

I really miss my mommy.

Hi, my name is Vera and I am a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie). I too am hanging out for the week with Lex and Soph.

I am a total cuddle bug, and LOVE playing with Soph and helping her finish her snacks.

Lucy humps me all the time, but I don't mind cuz I am a sweetheart...and I'm slowing learning to hump back! I do freak out when the other dogs start yelling, but I just like to play along.

I miss my mommy too.

hug me mommy

Her Sophiness is finally at the age where she shows affection. I have been waiting for this stage to come around....

My love gives kisses (to me and her stuffed animals), cuddles up on the couch, hugs, and our new fav- the running hug.

I hold my arms out to her and she comes running to me arms up in the air. How cute is that?!

And on a side note: it is nice to see that her arms and head are finally growing in proportion to her body. For the longest time I swear she was just one giant head on a chunk bod. Her hands barely reached over her giant head. I know it's a natural part of development, but it didn't take away from the fact that it was just plain weird. :)

just gorgeous

I forgot to share Soph's first manicure!

Admittedly it was done at 10:00 pm while she was sleeping, and while I was holding my breath that she wouldn't wake up and wave her hands all over the couch.

I'd say they turned out pretty good for not being able to see my 'canvas'. :) Next on the list... another manicure coupled with a nice lil pedi.

another new trick!

Soph can point to your nose when you ask her to! Yay! I also taught her to point to my eye when asked, but we are giving that one up for now as it hurt really bad when she found it. Good job Sopha Monster!!

jabberin'

Soph is a total jabber monster now. She blabs on and on in her own little language and it is absolutely precious! The only thing that concerns me (just a teeny weeny) is that she no longer uses the word dada and rarely uses mama; instead they have been replaced with MEOW.

Everything she sees: meow. We're at the store: meow. She sees a cat: meow. She sees a dog: meow. Going door to door trick or treating: meow.

I have composed a list of her favorite words at the moment-

1. meow
2. book
3. hey/hi
4. uh oh
5. no
6. ruff ruff
7. puh tat (putty tat)
8. num num
9. whoa
10. mama
11. baa baa (her version of singing)

gobble gobble

Victory is mine!

I built my first turkey all by myself; I really think this type of occasion that again notches my belt of adulthood.

Here she is:

And here is what it looked like after me, Soph, Katt, and Lucy had a taste:

Let me tell ya, I like meat. But between pulling that swan neck out of the turkey cavity (even the word is disgusting) and looking at this bare dinosaur bone sticking out of my creation, I am ready to go on a meat strike for awhile. Hello Veggies! and cake.

pajama party

I have so many favorite things about being a mommy, but I'd definitely have to say that pajama time with Soph is way up there. I love her keg like body wrapped up in those fleece footy pajamas...the feeling is pure love.

I actually really want to find a pair of footies myself, but it sorta makes me gag thinking about dressing like my kid. You know what I'm talking about right? Those dresses you can buy that all match and come in baby, child, teen, and adult sizes....barf!

Well...I guess if I find a pair that don't exactly match I could be in the clear....hmmm...

oh boobies

Sophie still loves boobies! I've said it before, but I really think this breastfeeding thing might go well into her 20s. But it is getting a little weird: she can nearly ask for them, likes to 'play' with her food, pulls down my shirt whenever she gets an urge, and now she gave me an infection!

I know it was a sign to pack 'em up and call it quits (I mean she's nearly 14 months old!), but I don't think she could handle the loss. Like experiencing the death of her first puppy. She doesn't know how to say goodbye to her favorite thing ever!

Oh Soph...but the infection was rough. I might be reminding you of that one later on. Hey Soph remember that time you were getting too old to eat boobies and you gave me mastitis? Cuz I do.

But she's one healthy little lady, and I totally hand that one over to the nutrients in booby milk. Oh the dilemma.
